VBS 2006VBS 2006: July 10-14
Bethlehem Village
Average attendance 165
The rooms and halls of Trinity were transformed into Bethlehem village at he time of the birth of Jesus. The children were divided into 12 groups, each named for a tribe of Israel. They were led to the various parts of the village each evening for Bible study, crafts, food, and recreation. Bro. Gene was Nematodius and helped tell stories each evening. Bro. Ricky served as the census taker. Each group had to appear before him each evening for a time of study and to be counted. All the children and workers were dressed in Bible costumes. Each tribe had its own room for study and activities. The assembly time occured in the worship room and was the time for music and dancing. The youth room became the village center with shops and a well. During the market time each evening various characters and activities appeared in the area. The shops contained the crafts including jewelry, beads, and woodworking. Recreation occured outside on the church lawn. The evening meal was delivered to each tribe room in a basket and each group sent representatives to the well or the group's drinks. All during the week there were visitors telling stories about a special baby that was born in a stable in town. On Friday night, the children were able to meet Joseph and Mary, and that special Jesus (played by Matt, Ashley, and Carson Hughes).
